Since 26 June 2025 cannabis flower has been a “controlled herb” under the Thai Traditional Medicine Act. A shop may sell it only to someone holding a PT 33 prescription from an authorised practitioner (a doctor, a Thai traditional medicine practitioner or another prescriber certified by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine). The prescription is valid for up to 30 days, a licensed outlet can sell up to a 30-day supply, and since January 2026 it must keep a DTAM-trained staff member on site whenever it is open.

• Loh Dalum Beach Side: The north-facing beach on the other side of the narrow isthmus from the pier. The alleyways connecting Tonsai to Loh Dalum pass several dispensaries.
• Long Beach (Hat Yao): A quieter beach accessible by longtail boat or a steep trail from Tonsai. No dispensaries here. Purchase in Tonsai before heading over.
• Loh Moo Dee and Eastern Bays: Remote beaches reached by longtail boat. No cannabis infrastructure. Bring what you need from Tonsai.

Cannabis Farms in Koh Phi Phi

There are no cannabis farms on Koh Phi Phi. The island is too small, too rocky, and too densely built in its habitable areas to support cultivation. All cannabis sold on the island is sourced from mainland growers, primarily in Krabi province and other parts of southern Thailand. Rules for visitors in Koh Phi Phi

• Public smoking that creates a smoke or smell nuisance can be fined up to 25,000 THB, with up to 3 months in prison, under the Public Health Act 1992.
• Selling without a prescription is a separate offence under a different law: up to 20,000 THB and up to a year in prison for the seller under the Traditional Medicine Act. Our penalties guide sets out both.
