Koh Samui Weed & Cannabis Shops 2026 — Bophut, Chaweng & Is It Legal?

Cannabis is legal on Koh Samui only in the way it is legal everywhere in Thailand since 26 June 2025: as a medical product bought with a prescription. Cannabis flower is classed as a “controlled herb” under the Thai Traditional Medicine Act, and shops may sell it only to people holding a PT 33 prescription from an authorised practitioner. Holiday visitors are covered by the same rule.

Our directory has eight cannabis shops on Samui itself, from public map data, mostly in Bophut and Chaweng. We have no dedicated cannabis clinic listed on the island yet. A listing shows a business exists; it does not confirm a licence, so look for one on the wall and expect to be asked for your prescription.

How buying cannabis on Koh Samui works

1. Consult an authorised practitioner. Medical doctors, Thai traditional medicine practitioners and the other prescribers certified by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM) can assess you and decide whether cannabis is suitable.
2. Receive a PT 33 prescription. It sets the product, dose and duration, lasts up to 30 days, and requires your passport as ID.
3. Buy only what it covers. Licensed outlets can sell up to 30 days’ supply and must have DTAM-trained staff on site whenever they are open (a rule in force since January 2026).

Where the cannabis shops are on Koh Samui

From the addresses in our listings:

• Bophut. The largest group, with Cannabis Cafe, GreenShop Cannabis Dispensary, SWeed Samui Cafe&Shop and SnackMiao.
• Chaweng. Copper Pipe on Chaweng Beach Road.
• Elsewhere on the island. Chi Samui, Thai Garden’s KoMui and Weed Koh Samui list Ko Samui addresses without a precise area.

Rules for visitors on Koh Samui

• Not on the beach. Smoking in public so that the smoke or smell disturbs others can be fined up to 25,000 THB, with up to 3 months in prison, under the Public Health Act 1992.
• Selling without a prescription is a separate offence. It carries up to 20,000 THB and up to a year in prison for the seller under the Traditional Medicine Act. Our penalties guide explains the difference.

Koh Samui cannabis FAQ

Is cannabis legal in Koh Samui?

Yes, but only on prescription. Since 26 June 2025 cannabis flower can be sold only to someone holding a valid PT 33 prescription from an authorised practitioner. Recreational buying is not legal on Samui or anywhere else in Thailand.

Where are the weed shops on Koh Samui?

Most of the shops in our listings are in Bophut, with another on Chaweng Beach Road and a few elsewhere on the island. Check the map on this page for exact locations.

Can I get a cannabis prescription on Koh Samui?

We do not list a dedicated cannabis clinic on Samui yet. Ask locally about Thai traditional medicine clinics, or use a clinic on the mainland such as Surat Thani Hospital. Only an authorised practitioner can issue a PT 33.

Is there a cannabis club on Koh Samui?

Some shops call themselves clubs or lounges, but the name changes nothing legally. Flower still needs a prescription, and smoking that disturbs others in public can be fined.

Can I smoke weed on the beach in Koh Samui?

No. Public smoking that causes a nuisance can be fined up to 25,000 THB under the Public Health Act.
