Cannabis in Sukhothai 2026 — Dispensaries & UNESCO Heritage Guide

Guide to cannabis in Sukhothai. Find 8 dispensaries, PT 33 info and tips near Thailand's UNESCO ruins.

8 Dispensaries
Sukhothai

Sukhothai — the “Dawn of Happiness” — was the first capital of the Thai kingdom, founded in 1238. Today it is a quiet province in the lower north of Thailand, best known for the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. The park’s laterite and stucco ruins spread across 70 square kilometres, drawing history enthusiasts and cyclists who explore the temples at a slow pace that matches the city’s unhurried rhythm.

As of March 2026, Sukhothai province has 8 cannabis dispensaries, totaling 8 cannabis businesses. There are currently no dedicated cannabis clinics or cannabis farms in the province. The cannabis scene here is modest and dispersed — two shops sit near the Old City ruins, two serve Si Satchanalai in the north, two cover Kong Krailat in the east, and the remaining shops are in Khiri Mat and Thung Saliam districts. This is not a party destination; it is a place where cannabis fits quietly into the landscape of heritage tourism and rural Thai life.

Why Sukhothai for Cannabis

  • UNESCO heritage tourism — Sukhothai Historical Park and the nearby Si Satchanalai Historical Park provide a cultural backdrop unmatched by any beach or party city. Cannabis here is a complement to slow, contemplative travel.
  • Cycling culture — Bicycles are the primary way to explore the Old City ruins. The flat terrain and quiet roads make for a relaxed experience, and dispensaries near the historical park are an easy stop between temples.
  • Budget prices — Sukhothai has virtually no tourist markup on cannabis. The province serves a predominantly Thai customer base, and prices reflect local economics rather than resort-town demand.
  • Low-key atmosphere — Evenings in Sukhothai are quiet. There are no nightclubs or beach bars — just night markets, noodle shops, and the illuminated ruins. If you want cannabis without the noise, this is the place.
  • Loy Krathong origins — Sukhothai is considered the birthplace of the Loy Krathong festival, held each November in the historical park. It is one of the most atmospheric events in Thailand.

Best Cannabis Dispensaries in Sukhothai

Sukhothai’s eight dispensaries are spread across the province rather than clustered in one area. Here is every shop, ordered by Google rating and review count.

Top-Rated Dispensaries

WEED SHOP leads the province with 26 Google reviews and a 4.7-star rating. It is located in Mueang Kao, directly beside the Sukhothai Historical Park, making it the most convenient dispensary for visitors exploring the UNESCO ruins. Open daily 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Very good cannabis holds 18 reviews at 4.9 stars and operates from Khiri Mat district, south of the city center. Weekday hours run 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with extended weekend hours from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM — the latest closing time in the province for a rated shop.

สุขเสมอ 420 Happy Only! Cannabis Shop has a perfect 5.0-star rating from 7 reviews and sits in Mueang Kao alongside WEED SHOP, giving Old City visitors a second option within walking distance of the ruins. Open daily 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

ร้านกัญชา Sukho High Shop also holds a perfect 5.0-star rating, from 11 reviews. It is located in Hat Siao, Si Satchanalai district — about 55 km north of Sukhothai Old City. Closed on Tuesdays; otherwise open 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

ร้านกัญชา FEASTO OG KUSH rounds out the rated shops with 4.5 stars from 11 reviews, also in Si Satchanalai. It offers delivery and keeps long hours from 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM daily.

More Dispensaries Across the Province

Odd Odd Cannabis สาขากงไกรลาศ serves Kong Krailat district in central Sukhothai province, open daily 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. It is a branch operation extending cannabis access into an area with limited options.

Ganja Fresh กัญชาเฟรช is also in Kong Krailat, notable for its early-morning hours — weekdays from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, weekends from 7:00 AM. This schedule suits the local agricultural community rather than tourists.

ร้านกัญชาทุ่งเสลี่ยม แคนนาบิส in Thung Saliam is the only 24-hour dispensary in Sukhothai province and one of the few offering delivery. It serves a remote rural area where other options are scarce.

Chain Operations

Odd Odd Cannabis operates as a branch (สาขากงไกรลาศ), indicating it is part of a multi-location operation. No other chain dispensaries are currently present in Sukhothai province. The remaining seven shops are independent operations.

Budget Options

Sukhothai is one of the most affordable cannabis destinations in Thailand. Without the tourist inflation seen in Phuket, Koh Samui, or even Chiang Mai, prices here reflect genuine local market rates. The Kong Krailat shops — Ganja Fresh and Odd Odd Cannabis — serve agricultural communities where pricing stays firmly in the budget range. ร้านกัญชาทุ่งเสลี่ยม แคนนาบิส in Thung Saliam, with its 24-hour operation and delivery service, is another strong budget option in the outer districts.

Even the Old City shops near the historical park maintain reasonable prices compared to other tourist-adjacent areas in Thailand.

Areas for Cannabis in Sukhothai

Old City (Sukhothai Historical Park Area)

The Old City — Mueang Kao — is where most visitors spend their time. The Sukhothai Historical Park, with its iconic Wat Mahathat, Wat Si Chum, and Wat Sa Si, is the main attraction. Two dispensaries operate here: WEED SHOP and 420 Happy Only!, both located along the road near the historical park entrance. This is the most convenient area for tourists, with bicycle rental shops, guesthouses, and restaurants all within reach. The Old City is about 12 km west of New Sukhothai.

New City (Mueang Sukhothai)

New Sukhothai is the modern commercial center where the bus station, banks, markets, and most accommodation are located. There are no dispensaries in New City proper as of March 2026. Visitors staying in New Sukhothai will need to make the 12 km trip to the Old City or venture to the outer districts for cannabis access.

Si Satchanalai (Northern District)

About 55 km north of the Old City, Si Satchanalai has its own UNESCO-listed historical park — smaller and quieter than Sukhothai’s but equally impressive. Two dispensaries serve this area: Sukho High Shop with its perfect 5.0-star rating and FEASTO OG KUSH with delivery service. If you are combining both historical parks in one trip, note that Sukho High Shop is closed on Tuesdays.

Kong Krailat (Central Province)

Kong Krailat, roughly 30 km east of the Old City, is a largely agricultural district with two dispensaries: Odd Odd Cannabis and Ganja Fresh. These shops cater to local residents rather than tourists, and Ganja Fresh opens as early as 6:30 AM to match the farming schedule.

Outer Districts (Thung Saliam, Khiri Mat)

The more remote districts of Sukhothai province each have a single dispensary. ร้านกัญชาทุ่งเสลี่ยม แคนนาบิส provides 24-hour service with delivery in Thung Saliam, while Very good cannabis operates in Khiri Mat with its 4.9-star rating and weekend extended hours.

Cannabis Farms in Sukhothai

There are currently no cannabis farms in Sukhothai province. All dispensaries source their product from growers elsewhere. The nearest farm experiences can be found in Chiang Mai and other northern provinces with established cultivation operations.

Getting a PT 33 Prescription

Under the June 2025 Cannabis Act, a valid PT 33 prescription is required to purchase cannabis from any licensed dispensary in Thailand. As of March 2026, Sukhothai has no dedicated medical cannabis clinics.

This is a critical planning detail. You must arrange your PT 33 prescription before arriving in Sukhothai.

Options:

  • Get your prescription before traveling — If coming from Bangkok or Chiang Mai, visit a cannabis clinic in either city before heading to Sukhothai. Bangkok has dozens of clinics; Chiang Mai has several. A valid PT 33 works nationwide.
  • Telehealth — Some dispensaries may be able to connect you with a remote physician for a consultation. Ask when you arrive, but do not rely on this being available in a small province like Sukhothai.
  • Phitsanulok — The nearest major city is Phitsanulok, about 60 km east. As a larger provincial capital, it may have cannabis clinic options. Check current listings before traveling.
  • Provincial hospitals — Sukhothai Hospital may offer cannabis consultations as part of general medical services, but this is not a dedicated cannabis clinic and availability is uncertain.

Sukhothai Cannabis Prices (March 2026)

GradePrice Range (THB/gram)Notes
Budget50–100Local strains, widely available at rural district shops
Mid-range100–200Quality hybrids, available at Old City and rated dispensaries
Premium200–400Top-shelf imports, limited selection compared to bigger cities

Sukhothai is among the cheapest provinces in Thailand for cannabis. Prices are comparable to Isan-level rates in the outer districts and only marginally higher near the historical park. You will pay significantly less here than in any major tourist destination.

How to Get to Sukhothai

  • By air — Bangkok Airways operates direct flights from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to Sukhothai Airport, located about 27 km north of New Sukhothai. Flight time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. The airport is small and scenic but flights are limited and typically more expensive than alternative routes.
  • By bus from Bangkok — Direct buses depart from Bangkok’s Mo Chit (Northern) bus terminal. The journey takes 5–6 hours. Both standard and VIP buses are available, with VIP options running 350–500 THB.
  • By bus from Phitsanulok — Phitsanulok is the nearest transport hub, about 60 km east. Frequent buses and minivans connect the two cities in roughly 1 hour. Many travelers fly or take the train to Phitsanulok, then transfer to Sukhothai by bus.
  • By train to Phitsanulok — There is no train station in Sukhothai. The closest rail connection is Phitsanulok, which sits on the northern train line from Bangkok. Trains from Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue Grand) station take 5–6 hours, after which you transfer to a Sukhothai-bound bus.
  • By car — Sukhothai is approximately 440 km north of Bangkok via Highway 1 and Highway 101. Driving time is 5–6 hours depending on traffic.

What to Know Before Visiting

  • Bicycle rental is essential — The Old City historical park is best explored by bicycle. Rental shops are clustered near the park entrance and charge 30–50 THB per day. Plan your dispensary visits as stops along your cycling route.
  • Temple etiquette — Sukhothai is a sacred heritage site. Do not consume cannabis near temples, within the historical park grounds, or anywhere that could be considered disrespectful to the ruins. Dress modestly when visiting wats — cover shoulders and knees.
  • Quiet evenings — Sukhothai is not a nightlife city. Most restaurants close by 9:00 PM in the Old City area, and the historical park gates shut at dusk (with occasional light shows). Plan your cannabis purchases during daytime hours, especially since WEED SHOP closes at 8:00 PM.
  • Loy Krathong festival — If you visit in November, the Loy Krathong celebration at Sukhothai Historical Park is considered the most authentic and spectacular in Thailand. The park fills with floating krathongs, lanterns, and light-and-sound shows. Accommodation books out weeks in advance.
  • Limited English — Sukhothai is not heavily touristed by Western visitors compared to Chiang Mai or the islands. Staff at dispensaries outside the Old City may speak little English. Have Google Translate ready or learn basic Thai phrases.
  • Two historical parks — Do not overlook Si Satchanalai Historical Park, 55 km north. It has its own UNESCO listing, fewer crowds, and two dispensaries nearby. Combine both parks in a full-day trip if you have transport.
  • No clinics — Remember that Sukhothai has zero dedicated cannabis clinics. Get your PT 33 prescription sorted before you arrive.
