Koh Lipe Weed Shops & Delivery 2026 — What Is Legal on the Island

Koh Lipe is small enough to walk across in under an hour, and it still has several cannabis shops. Our directory lists six shops and one medical cannabis clinic on the island, from public map data. What visitors most often get wrong is the law. Since 26 June 2025 cannabis flower in Thailand has been a “controlled herb” under the Thai Traditional Medicine Act, and it may be sold only to someone holding a PT 33 prescription from an authorised practitioner. That includes flower delivered to your bungalow.

Being listed here does not mean a shop is licensed. A compliant shop will ask for your prescription before it sells.

Is weed delivery on Koh Lipe legal?

Only if the sale itself is legal, which means a valid prescription first. Two of the Koh Lipe listings in our data say they deliver. Delivery changes where the product ends up, not the rules for selling it:

• The seller must be licensed and must sell against a valid PT 33 prescription, up to a 30-day supply.
• Since January 2026 a licensed outlet must have a DTAM-trained staff member on site during opening hours, and the April 2026 conversion policy is moving shops toward clinic-style dispensing.
• A delivery offered with no prescription check is a sale without a prescription. For the seller that can mean up to 20,000 THB and up to a year in prison under the Traditional Medicine Act, and it leaves you holding cannabis you had no legal right to buy.

If a shop or a beach contact offers to “send some over” without asking for your prescription, the honest answer is that it is not legal.

How to buy cannabis legally on Koh Lipe

1. Consult an authorised practitioner. In our listings, Bud’s Island Medical Cannabis Shop is the island’s medical cannabis clinic. Check that a certified prescriber is working before you go.
2. Get the PT 33 if they prescribe. It sets product, dose and duration and is valid for up to 30 days. Bring your passport.
3. Buy within the prescription from a shop that asks to see it.

Rules for visitors on Koh Lipe

• Do not take anything to Langkawi. Cannabis is illegal in Malaysia with severe penalties. Arrive and leave with nothing, including leftover product.
• Beaches and Walking Street are public. Smoke or smell that disturbs others in public can be fined up to 25,000 THB, with up to 3 months in prison, under the Public Health Act 1992. That is a separate law from the sale penalty above.
• Not before diving or snorkelling. Tarutao marine park trips and dive boats are no place to be impaired.
• Respect local communities. Koh Lipe is home to Urak Lawoi (Chao Ley) and Muslim families. Keep use private.
