About Makham
Chanthaburi Province, situated between Bangkok and the Cambodian border, is one of Thailand’s most productive agricultural regions. The warm, humid climate that supports durian and rubber cultivation also provides favorable conditions for cannabis growing. The province’s accessible location on Route 3 makes it a natural stopover for travelers heading to Trat and Koh Chang.
PT 33 Prescription Required
Buying flower here requires a PT 33 prescription. That has been the rule since 26 June 2025, when cannabis flower was reclassified as a controlled herb for medical use only. Prescriptions come from DTAM-certified doctors, Thai traditional medicine practitioners and a few other licensed professions, and each one covers at most 30 days’ supply. CBD products under 0.2% THC are the exception and need no prescription. For clinics in and around Chanthaburi, see our clinic directory and the PT 33 guide.
